Incoterms® RulesINternational COmmercial TERMS – are contractual terms, codified by the International Chamber of Commerce, that clearly identify the allocation between seller and buyer of obligations, risks and expenses associated with the delivery of goods.

The Incoterms® specifically regulate who, between the two contracting parties, is to enter into the contract of carriage of the goods and any insurance up to the agreed place; who is to bear the duties of export and import customs clearance; they also identify where and when delivery of the goods takes place, the time of transfer of risks of damage to the goods from the seller to the buyer, and any other expenses related to the delivery of the goods.

The Incoterms® Rules represent a globally recognized standard and are incorporated into domestic and international contracts, providing a certain point of reference for importers, exporters, lawyers, carriers and insurers working in the world of international trade.
